7 Best Rooftops in Downtown Los Angeles

Downtown Los Angeles is an incredible neighborhood that’s beauty deserves to be observed from only the best lookouts. Luckily for everyone DTLA is filled with restaurants, bars, and other rooftops offering extraordinary views! Here is a list of the seven best rooftops in Downtown Los Angeles.

1. City Hall Observation Deck

This is only open on Monday-Friday, but the 360 degree view provided by the observation deck is unmatched. Each angle offers a peek into a different neighborhood within the Downtown and surrounding areas. Unlike most of the other rooftops on this list, the City Hall Observation Deck is usually not crowded! Unless you happen to run in to a school tour, you will likely only be sharing the lookout deck with a few other people! Best off all it is FREE!

2. Perch Restaurant and Rooftop Bar

Perch features enchanting views of the old library, Pershing Square, and much more of Downtown. The restaurant’s terrace allows diners to enjoy the breathtaking view while indulging on truly delicious French cuisine. If you are not interested in eating, then head all the way up to their rooftop bar. The garden invites guests in to sip on delicious wine, beer, or cocktails while soaking in the awe-inspiring views. You must be 21 to enter the rooftop bar, but not the restaurant.

3. The Rooftop Bar at The Standard Hotel

The Standard is part of chain of hotels found worldwide. The one in Downtown Los Angeles has a rooftop bar and restaurant that offers some of the best views in the cities. Most weekdays and afternoons the rooftop is free to enter, though weekend nights and summer days do occasionally call for cover (check ahead of time). The bar features drinks, small bites, and a rooftop pool! The best attribute of the bar, however, in undoubtably the views. Guests must be 21 or older to enter.

4. Takami Sushi and Robata Restaurant

Sushi is somehow even tastier when enjoyed on the 22nd floor! As one of the taller rooftops in Downtown, guests are able to look down on the city around them and discover new places! Takami Restaurant even offers happy hour food and drinks until 7pm on weekdays. Revell in the sunset while sipping a Lychee Saketini and munching on sushi.

5. Broken Shaker

Located on the rooftop of Freehand Hotel, Broken Shaker provides a fun and festive Miami vibe, while also offering a great view! Food and drinks are served poolside so guests can soak up the sun while enjoying some tasty treats! This rooftop does have limited capacity. It is best to go during off hours, or arrive early. Broken Shaker also has a reputation for loud music- so buyer be warned. Even for those few who might not enjoy the loud music, the views will make up for it!

6. The Upstairs Bar at the Ace Hotel

This rooftop bar on top of the Ace Hotel has it all! Fun atmosphere, knowledgeable staff, good food, great drinks, and of course a lovely view! The view is particularly spectacular at night. This place can get a bit crowded on the weekends so be sure to arrive early.

7. Spire 73

If you are going to go to a rooftop bar, it might as well be the tallest bar in the western hemisphere! This place may have some pricey cocktails, but that’s to be expected when you are 73 levels up in the sky! The views at all times of day are fantastic. Guests can savor a delicious glass of wine while also drinking in the city views on an afternoon, appreciate the sunset in the early evening, or be dazzled by the many sparkling city lights late into the night.
